The Trout Lake Railroad Grade is distinguished by its consistently receiving significantly more snow than any other Nordic trail in the region. It is always the first and last trail skiable for the season.
Skiers are encouraged to access the trail from the top of Lizard head Pass. Doing so reduces impacts of traffic and maintenance on the Trout Lake Road for Trout Lake residents. Ample parking and restrooms are available at the USFS rest station at the top of the Pass. TNA plans to set up a new sign-in station at the top of the RR Grade. Currently, the only station is located at the bottom of the RR Grade. Please remember to use it!
The RR Grade is the only trail groomed by TNA where dogs are officially welcome... provided, the dog has a responsible owner! Please clean up after your pet and shorten your leash when other skiers are present (more than one skier has been “clothes-lined” by a dog leash).
The USFS is allowing TNA to groom two new loops in the meadows north of the RR Grade on a trial basis (see map below). Check them out while you can!
