Last Update: Sunday Morning, April 6, 2008

Tip: Peter will check the conditions at Priest Lake Sunday morning. If Priest is in need of grooming, he will spend his time there.  If Priest is still in good shape, he will head to Trout Lake and groom there.  The skiing was absolutely fantastic at Priest on Saturday. The cooler weather and overcast sky kept the trail firm through most of the day.  Sunday promises similar conditions.

Today (Sunday) marks the end of regular grooming for the season.  There may be limited grooming at Priest or Trout Lake following storm events through April. Otherwise, skiers are advised to enjoy an extended season of crust skiing at Lizard Head Pass and the surrounding high mesas!

VALLEY FLOOR: Grooming on the Valley Floor has ended for the season. It will still be possible to classic tour until the snow is gone. It’s been a great season on the Valley Floor!

Access from the River Trail (at the end of Mahoney Drive) or from the Shell station on Hwy 145. If parking at the Shell station, please park along the east fence or on the west side of the station along the south edge of the lot. DO NOT BLOCK access to the garage doors or the dumpster. Access from the River Trail at the end of Mahoney Drive is PREFERRED as parking is very limited at the Shell Station

TROUT LAKE: Trout Lake was Wednesday morning for skate and classic skiing. New snow since then will make for conditions best suited to classic touring.  The curst skiing should be very good on Lizard Head pass if you can find areas not cut up with snowmobile tracks.

Due to limited parking at the bottom of the trail, skiers are urged to access the trail from the top. Park at the USFS recreation parking area at the top of Lizard Head Pass. There are several points along the RR Grade with adjacent (south side) slopes that are prone to small avalanche slides.  Skiers should exercise caution at these locations (anywhere there is a slope greater than 30 degrees with the toe of the slope ending on the RR Grade trail).

PRIEST LAKE:  Priest Lake was groomed for skate and classic skiing Friday.  Conditions should be still be excellent Sunday morning. Plan your ski before noon. On warmer days the railroad grade at Priest Lake becomes very soft by mid afternoon.

Several new trail sections have been added to the Priest Lake Trails including a new loop around Priest Lake and a trail connector (across a new bridge) between the campground loop and the parking lot trailhead.

MOUNTAIN VILLAGE AND TOPATEN: Grooming on the Golf Course is over for the season.  Grooming at Topaten will continue through the close of the ski area on Sunday.

Nordic skiers may purchase a round-trip ticket on Lift-10 to access to the Topaten trails. Topaten may also be accessed by skiing up the Galloping Goose Alpine trail.

The MV Nordic Trails cover mostly hilly terrain recommended for intermediate to advanced skiers.  Access from the Village core below the Peaks Hotel, from Big Billies parking lot (just west of Lift-10) or by skiing down the Double Cabin Run from the Station Village Parking Lot to where XC-Trail crosses.

TOWN PARK:   The Town Park trails are groomed for skate and classic skiing daily.
