Directions to Faraway Ranch on Wilson Mesa

Faraway Ranch is located on Wilson Mesa about 15 miles from Telluride, Colorado. Maps of the region and Wilson Mesa vicinity are available here.  There is limited parking at Faraway Ranch. Carpooling is strongly encouraged! Be prepared to park your vehicle at the turn-off to the Ranch and take a shuttle to the course at the end of the access road. The Faraway access road usually requires four wheel drive and good snow tires.  Pack your post-race warm-ups and anything else you’ll need as your car will be over a mile away.  The following are directions to the Ranch and to the parking for the race.

From Montrose, Norwood, Ridgway, and points beyond:
From Placerville at the junction of 145, head up to Telluride. After 7.2 miles you will come to the turn-off for Silver Pick Road on the right. Turn onto Silver Pick Road, where you will shortly go over a bridge. Head up Silver Pick Road 3.5 miles and you will come to a fork in the road. Bear left onto 60M Road at this fork. After .8 of a mile you will come to a three way intersection and a place that you may be instructed to park for the race. The number of cars and participants will dictate where the parking will be. You will either park here at this three way intersection and take a van to the start, or you will take a sharp right hand turn and see signs for Faraway Ranch and the Nordic Center. Head up the road 1.8 miles to the start or to a parking area closer to the course. 

From Telluride:
From Telluride head out of town to the junction of highway 145, 3.5 miles out of town. At this junction continue straight down the hill on highway 145 towards Placerville. After 6.3 miles, you will come to Silver Pick Road on the left. Turn onto Silver Pick Road and follow the directions as described above.

From Durango, Dolores, Rico and points south:
Take highway 145 to an intersection just 3.5 miles from Telluride. (Turn right on the highway 145 Spur and you will go to Telluride; turn left and you will head to the race.) Turn left continuing on highway 145 towards Placerville and Ridgway. After 6.3 miles, you will come to Silver Pick Road on the left. Turn onto Silver Pick Road and follow the directions as described above.
